Do you actually need the leaves for it to work? or can the flower be made on its own?

I just made this flower and it was very easy! Thanks. I did not use regular origami paper, I used color paper, the same thinness of the paper you use on your printer. It worked except the paper ripped a bit when I was folding the petals but I put a little tape and it’s invisible. great video!

ive been looking around for some without any luck.
